The passenger and his family who was in the taxi during the accident has contacted Beh Chia Lor and given us his side of the story of the accident between a taxi and a car at the junction of Cantonment Link and Keppel Road on 10 Sep 2022 where 6 people were sent to hospital. People shouldn’t judge those involved before the full facts are out.
“I was a passenger in last night’s taxi and car accident. My family and I were in the taxi. Thank you, Beh Chia Lor, for your well wishes and also for reporting the facts as you knew them. I decided to message because other reports online were quoting (mistakenly) the representative from ConfortDelegro saying no-one was injured. Also some comments are a bit disgusting by making fun or blaming the taxi driver. I can tell you it was 100% NOT the taxi driver’s fault. I was in the front seat and we were driving through a green light. Witnesses and the police all confirmed this.
The other driver turned right and we crashed into the front of the other car then diverted left and smashed into the traffic light. Miraculously my 7 year old daughter was not injured, she just had some cuts on her hand and legs. Although she was very shook up and still dealing with the shock. My wife was also uninjured. The driver, my mother in law and I are all still in Hospital (SGH) with back injuries (fractured spines). We also have superficial injuries like cuts requiring stitches, severe bruising, cracked ribs etc. Spinal fractures are very serious and cause months of discomfort because you need to wear a neck brace meaning loss of work especially for the driver.
The taxi driver is a nice man with a family. I was very sad and angry to see negative ignorant comments about him. I know sadly that’s the nature of this online world. However, on the flip side, most comments and reactions are supportive. Also the witnesses and passersby were amazing. Anyway thank you for giving me a place to talk, Beh Chia Lor. It’s very helpful!”
We are grateful no one sustained life-threatening injuries, especially the child and elderly who were in the taxi.
