Should Bus/Taxi/PHV Drivers Be Allowed to take Toilet Breaks while Ferrying Passengers?
The topic of public transport drivers having to take a bathroom break has surfaced over and over again in the past few years. Most Singaporeans appear to be sympathetic. But some have “complained” about it.

At Beh Chia Lor, we hope that “complainer” is a rare breed who really shouldn’t take public transport at all. But looking at the general sentiment of netizens in Singapore, it seems like our society is more gracious.

Tiktoker and bus driver @YourBusCaptain recently responded to commenters that bus drivers are indeed allowed to use the toilet along their route as long as the bus is parked in a safe place. Bus companies so far have not responded definitively with their policies.
The debate continues raging on various sites including Quora where the respondents include international bus drivers from the UK.
Having to use the bathroom urgently and unexpectedly is just part of being human. However, when this becomes a normal part of an older man’s routine, it may be a symptom of something more sinister.
Not just drivers, but many of our older relatives have experienced frequent, urgent need to urinate, and sometimes even an increased need to urinate at night.
Is this a sign of old age or is this something that you need to start paying attention to?
To answer this question, Beh Chia Lor’s editorial team was informed that there is a special FREE medical event happening at Toa Payoh Hub on 5 Nov (Sat). Urologists from TTSH, NUH, CGH are coming together to speak candidly about this subject and provide advice to men who may be experiencing these symptoms.
It is free to attend, registration is required and seats are limited (first 50 pax only):
